Beeswax Candle Dipping Workshop

Come spend a cozy, creative afternoon with us at Wild Hive and learn the beautiful old-world craft of making beeswax candles by hand.

Our candle dipping workshops are held at the Wild Hive studio, located just east of Warburg, Alberta. Choose Part One to learn the foundations of working with beeswax, or stay for Part Two and spend the afternoon dipping, rolling, twisting and overcoating your own collection of candles.

No experience is necessary, and everything you need will be provided.

CLASS ONE — DIP + ROLL

October 3rd 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM | $85 per person

We’ll start with the foundations of working with beeswax by making a pair of traditional rolled beeswax candles before moving over to the dipping rack.

There, you’ll learn how to build a taper candle by hand, one dip at a time, using 100% Alberta beeswax. We’ll walk you through preparing your wicks, dipping, shaping and finishing your candles.

You’ll make and take home:

• 2 pairs of hand-dipped taper candles
• 1 pair of rolled beeswax candles
• 6 candles total

Part One is a relaxed, hands-on introduction to beeswax candle making and is perfect for beginners.

CLASS TWO — TWIST + OVERCOAT

October 3rd 2:45 PM – 4:00 PM | $125 per person

After a short break, we’ll take what you learned in Part One and get a little more creative.

You’ll learn how we work with warm, pliable beeswax to twist and shape candles by hand, including making our Twin Flame and Loose Twist.

Then we’ll move into overcoating, where you’ll get to play with colour and learn how we add the finishing layers to some of our Wild Hive candles.

Guests completing Class One + Two will leave with:

• 2 pairs of hand-dipped taper candles
• 1 pair of rolled beeswax candles
• 1 Twin Flame
• 1 Loose Twist
• The opportunity to overcoat and finish your candles
• 8 candles total

• Full Class One + Class Two experience: $125 per person

  Our workshops are held at the Wild Hive studio, located just east of Warburg, Alberta.

  Exact directions and arrival details will be sent to registered guests prior to the workshop.

  The Shed will also be open for shopping that day, so feel free to come a little early or stay awhile after your class to browse Wild Hive candles and goods.
